Light Rock utilizes slate rock, shist, wood, iron, etc., all items are from the Black Hills of South Dakota.
The slate used is harvested from the Slate Creek in the Black Hills of South Dakota by permit from the Black Hills National Forest.
During harvesting, great care is given so as not to disturb the eco-system or habitation in the area.
Each piece of slate is hand selected, split with chisel and hammer, then expertly handcrafted into breath taking plaques, clocks, pen sets, key racks, door knockers, crosses, candles, magnets and name plates. Rustic nails, wire, and wood are also incorporated into the designs. Light Rock will provide a unique and decorative accent to your home, office, and for one-of-a-kind gifts for all occasions and holidays.
Slate Rock is a natural product which has its own unique shape and contour. That is why every piece varies a bit in size and shape, no two are exactly alike. Slate has fascinating variety of color and textures on each piece, creating character and originality to each piece that is hand crafted. Some slate contains minerals; the oxidation of these minerals causes the variety of colors. Since minerals are a natural part of the slate, the color will never fade.
