My name is Johnny Swatek and I was born in Wyoming and raised in Southern California. I studied art during my college days and went on to pursue my goals in airbrushing. I spent twenty years trying to build experience. For the last eight years I have tried to balance the two working tools, both hand and airbrush.
I look to the everyday experience for inspiration. I love history and all things old. I study the old masters and look to learn from their techniques. I love the work of Leonardo da Vinci and have recently started studying the works of Norman Rockwell. Both these painters are a constant inspiration to me.
I find character in old farms and out buildings. I love living in South Dakota with its abundance of wildlife. I love painting the complexity of pheasants. I always look to draw you in to the painting and surround you with details. Realism is important to the way I show my viewers the things that make memories for me. I hope to continue adding textures to my work and I hope to continue to grow as an artist.
