New Moon Studio, LLC
John Dosch started New Moon Studio in January 2007. John retired in August 2007, after 33 years of military service and was about to enter a new phase in his life (hence the name New Moon Studio). John recalls celebrating each full moon in Iraq with his buddies and a cigar; counting down their time as each full-moon presented itself. John was stationed in Iraq, just a few miles from the Great Ziggurat of UR, which was dedicated to the moon god Nanna, over 4000 years ago. With the military life behind him, John is free to pursue his love: art. He graduated from Northern State College in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art. He has lived in Aberdeen , Webster and now Watertown, SD. He is currently working in mixed media, using natural objects such as seeds, sisal, bark, twigs, fiber and metal elements like copper wire and brass sheets. His works reflect his inner thoughts and subconscious ideas which get exposed during the creative process of making his art. He works intuitively on a piece, not knowing exactly what the outcome will be. He knows the piece is finished when he has sensed a balance in composition and color and when he feels he has connected with the place or thought that came to mind as he worked on the piece. John is also seeking commissions for two dimensional relief portrait sculptures.
