Welcome to Woodville. I'm Dennis Hayward, a Black Hills wood turner. Browse my storefront for "Lathe Turned Wooden Treasures". I have turned many one of a kind pieces on the lathe over the years,ranging from candle holders, lamps, bowls, vases and lidded boxes, mainly from branches of local South Dakota trees. I have a deep-seated passion for working with many species of woods, bringing out trees' internal beauty,feel and smell. I feel these pieces cry out to be handled. The past few years my focus is on Inside-Outside Vase turnings, Lidded boxes, and Potpourri Boxes from hardwoods and exotics as well as local species. Recently I have been inspired to create scenes on turned Plates and inlaying Black Hills Quartz, brass, and other minerals.Also inlaying Quality Gemstones of Malachite & White,Yellow and blue Turquoise in highly figured lidded boxes. Several of all the above pieces are now throughout the world. Although the technique of inside-outside turnings and inlays are not mine, the shapes, designs, and combinations of different wood species are generated from my passion for turning in my heart.
