BAB's Beads and Things
Both Barbara and Anndra have admired beads and beadwork art from an early age. Childhood beading projects included daisy chains, beaded key chains, basic stringing, and simple beading on a loom.
After making earrings, bracelets, and beaded rings with a halo for gifts and their personal enjoyment, Barbara and Anndra began their mother-daughter venture in earnest of making beaded jewelry for retail.
In July 2003, the concept of "Angel Rings" was born. Each ring includes an accompanying card which reads, "Each ring has a halo to remind us all of our angelic nature." Barbara's and Anndra's mission statement is: "Our Angel Rings are designed as a message from truth and love and an inspiration of goodness and purity."
Barbara and Anndra currently create one of kind rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and cell phone charms. All of their creations are made with love. They incorporate beading techniques, wire-working, knitting, needle felting, and peyote stitch in their unique jewelry.
The Begay's relish the bead "hunt" and matching and/or contrasting beads in their jewelry. Barbara and Anndra are drawn to semi-precious gemstones and Swarovski crystals. Some of the semi-precious gems used in their works include pearls, mother of pearl, abalone, turquoise, amber, black onyx, amethyst, smokey topaz, howlite, gold stone, lavender quartz, and rose quartz, and amazonite. German vintage beads are also used. All jewelry is completed with sterling silver findings. They also enjoy creating unique one of a kind items and welcome custom orders.
Barbara is a former Registered Nurse while Anndra is a student. Anndra is of Navajo and Sioux descent and an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
