Great Dakota Bowl Co., making and selling wood bowls. Turned on a lathe, my creations range in size from 2 inches in diameter up to 24 inches in diameter, vases or vessels, platters, candleholders, boxes, bowls of all sizes, goblets, wine glasses and more are the variety of items that will be available at different times. Similar in size and shape is as close as it will get, as each piece is a one of a kind production!

Most of the woods I use are rescued from firewood piles or burn pits; some turned green and allowed to dry. This means you may get wormholes, cracks, and bark, moss and odd shapes as the wood dries, shrinks and twists. I use very little stain and mostly Danish Oil to seal the product leaving them safe for food service. I don't set out with a specific design in mind I let the wood choose its form, turning until it happens (I haven't made any toothpick's yet!). I invite you to take a look and check back often as the items will change. Cutting down a favorite tree? Save a couple pieces of the wood and I will do what I can to keep it and the memories alive for you! Also, if you don't see what your looking for email me I'd be happy to give it a try and see if I could help you out.

In the Spring of 2007 the last remaining Hackberry trees at the Capitol Building in Pierre were cut down due to safety issues. I was able to pick up a small load of the wood from the Pierre landfill. These bowls have and the trees are a part of history. Don't miss out!
